FROM THE JUNGLE
with Love

Ever wondered how our young jackfruit travels from the trees of Sri Lanka to your kitchen? Follow its journey from careful harvest to a versatile product ready to become something delicious.

Grown in Sri Lanka, Loved Worldwide

Jackfruit trees have flourished in the lush tropical landscapes of Sri Lanka for generations. These remarkable trees produce the largest tree grown fruit in the world, while providing local communities with a valuable source of food and income. We work directly with local farmers who have cared for these trees and passed their knowledge down through generations. Together, we help keep this tradition alive while respecting the natural landscape in which jackfruit grows.

CO₂ Emissions of Jackfruit

From tree to table, our jackfruit is produced with a remarkably small climate footprint. According to our footprint calculation, one kilogram of product generates just 0.9 kilograms of COâ‚‚e. For comparison, producing one kilogram of beef can generate around 24 kilograms of COâ‚‚e. Jackfruit grows on trees that rely mainly on rainfall and require far fewer resource intensive production steps than livestock farming. That means fewer inputs, lower emissions and a much lighter footprint. All the bite, none of the beef.

FAIR BY NATURE

Our jackfruit grows on tall trees in Sri Lanka that need little water and thrive without artificial irrigation, pesticides or herbicides. The trees provide food and income for local communities while growing in harmony with the surrounding landscape. No wonder jackfruit is often called a crop of the future.

EVERY PART HAS A PURPOSE

After our jackfruit is processed, the remaining natural materials are turned into compost by farming communities in Sri Lanka. This reduces organic waste and returns valuable nutrients to the soil, keeping the natural cycle going.

FAIR FARMING, LASTING IMPACT

Our jackfruit comes from a circular farming project built around 200 trees and run by local communities in Sri Lanka. All partner farmers are Fairtrade certified and receive training in sustainable farming practices that improve harvests and strengthen livelihoods. Better farming, fairer opportunities and stronger communities.
