Our jackfruit grows in the lush tropical landscapes of Sri Lanka, high on trees that can reach up to 30 metres. A single ripe fruit can weigh as much as 50 kilos, making jackfruit the largest tree grown fruit in the world. Even more remarkable, our jackfruit grows naturally in the landscape rather than on vast plantations.
There is a world of difference between ripe and young jackfruit. Once ripe, the flesh turns bright yellow and develops a sweet flavour with notes of pineapple, mango and apple. Across Asia, it is eaten fresh or used in desserts and ice cream.
For our products, we use young jackfruit. The fruits weigh between one and two kilos and have a fibrous texture, meaty bite and mild flavour, making them perfect for savoury dishes.
Used in Asian curries, stir fries and stews for generations, young jackfruit absorbs spices, marinades and sauces beautifully. This makes it a delicious base for our Jackfruit in Sauce and countless other creations.
